CEO Message – Grit and Determination: Daring Greatly
There is no question that the past couple months have continued to be challenging for many individuals, families, businesses and communities. Tykes & Teens and the many children and families we serve are no exception.
  • Since the pandemic began, we have seen individuals struggling with mental or behavioral health issues increase nationally from 1 in 5 to 2 in 5 individuals.
  • During the past quarter, we provided 5,252 individual sessions for 920 clients across the Treasure Coast, as well as reaching thousands of youth through our prevention services.
  • This will continue to increase as we have returned to providing services in schools and more in-office service.
As I reflect on this time, Teddy Roosevelt’s “Daring Greatly” quote speaks to the grit and determination I’ve seen at Tykes & Teens and throughout our community.
“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again… who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.” ~ Teddy Roosevelt
I want to acknowledge our team members and partners who have chosen to persevere by being in the game and are fighting hard each and every day to not only overcome our current challenges, but are determined to come out with resilience on the other side.  Yes, it is challenging, and we may stumble and fall, but there is no greater service than following our passion and purpose.
I applaud your grit, determination and courage.  Thank you for daring greatly, being in the game and continuing to serve our mission – regardless of how big the struggle – to scale new heights.
