Camp PETEY

Camp PETEY (Providing Enhanced Treatment and Empowering Youth) Tykes & Teens created a camp specifically with our clients who have the most intense behavioral and emotional challenges in mind, the kids who couldn’t be supported in a traditional summer camp environment.  Some of these children never had the opportunity to attend a camp because their caregivers were too fearful and didn’t think a traditional camp could effectively support them.  Others had been kicked out of camp in the past and others had flatly refused because of anxiety.  We want to remove as many barriers to attendance as possible and offer the camp to families who participate at no cost to them.  The purpose of the camp is two-fold – it gives and opportunity to work more frequently and more intensely with clients who could really benefit from the added support, and it offers these clients to have the “normal” childhood experiences that their mental health challenges have prevented them from having like attending camp, feeling “normal” among their peers, and building peer relationships.
