Youth Service Learning – Changing Vibes, Changing Lives

These young leaders are making a difference under the guidance of Tykes & Teens’ Prevention staff and volunteer adult mentors, including representatives from Martin County Fire Rescue, Stuart Police Department, Safe Space, 10th Street Center and local law firms.  Action plans and strategies are developed and implemented via community events and social messaging campaigns led by the students. After undergoing the initial training, the selected students from Martin County middle and high schools chose to address the problem of vaping and “juuling” among local teens. A “Juul” is a highly concentrated nicotine vaporizer which is popular with underage kids. It is commonly mistaken for a USB stick, making it easy for kids to conceal and use.
